LEVEL TWO RILEY AWARD DEADLINE

Applicants selected for Level Two of the Dick and Tunky Riley School Improvement Award will be notified by Monday, January 12th, 2009. Supplemental portfolio materials should be submitted by Monday, February 2nd, 2009.     Click here for further information.

SC-SIC Board of Trustees Passes Education
Reform Resolution

On Sept. 12, 2008, the SC-SIC Board unanimously passed a Resolution to support the amendment of Section 3, Article XI of the Constitution of South Carolina. The amendment will insert the language, “a high quality education, allowing each student to reach his highest potential” into our state constitution.  This new language will replace South Carolina’s current state standard of “a minimally adequate education.”

Legislation to change the state constitution must be passed by a 2/3rds vote of the Senate and House of Representatives in order to put the amendment on the general election ballot for public vote in November, 2010.

   SC-SIC Member Network Server Issue Resolved  

The University of SC server outage issue that affected the SC-SIC Member Network database has been resolved. A critical hardware failure within the server occurred on 11/14/2008 at 4:15 p.m. and was repaired by 11/14/2008 at 9:02 p.m.

There was no loss of saved SC-SIC Member Network data. The Member Network site is back up and users may log in to access the database at any time.

The SC-SIC office has extended the deadline for SIC membership entry into the Member Network until 5:00 p.m., MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17.
