Course DescriptionEducational Statistics I (EDRM 710) is a first course in the application of statistical methods to research problems in education. Graduate standing is required for enrollment, but there are no other prerequisites. The course is offered and governed by the Programs in Educational Psychology, Research, and Foundations in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of South Carolina. Current OfferingEDRM 710 is taught every fall and spring semester. This web page supports section 002 of the fall 2004 offering of the course. The course meets from 4:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays in Wardlaw 274. Instructor InformationThis section of EDRM 710 is taught by Michael A. Seaman and Ching Ching Yap. Michael Seaman is Associate Dean for Administration and Research in the College of Education and Associate Professor of Educational Research. He has been on the faculty at the University of South Carolina since 1990. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in quantitative methods in educational psychology with cognates in mathematical statistics and cognitive psychology. His research interests include statistics education, effect size analysis, and nonparametric statistics. Ching Ching Yap is a Research Assisant Professor at the Office of Program Evaluation. She has been on the College of Education faculty since 2003. She earned a Ph.D in music education from the University of South Carolina and a Masters Degree in Piano Performing Art from the Trossingen Music Conservatorium, Germany.
