EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF PROGRAM EVALUATION (OPE)

Non-tenure Track Research Faculty Position

The College of Education in the University of South Carolina (USC) is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director will be a senior level research faculty member (full or associate professor) in the College of Education. Applicants must have a successful record of grant proposal writing and expertise in research, testing, and evaluation. The appointment is for a non-tenure track position to start in summer 2008.

The OPE is an externally funded office in the College of Education at USC. OPE faculty and staff work on multiple evaluation, research, and assessment contracts with funding provided by federal, state, and local sources. In the 2006-2007 fiscal year, OPE staff worked on 15 projects with a total budget of over $1 million. The Executive Director will manage all aspects of office operations and budgets and also lead a subset of projects. Duties will include seeking and securing external funds to support the OPE's growth, conducting evaluation and research, writing reports and publications, and fostering collaborative funded research and evaluation between the OPE and departments both within the College of Education and across the University. The position requires a doctorate from an accredited institution. Candidates must have substantial knowledge and experience in evaluation, testing, and research methods. Requisite skills include constructing and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative assessment instruments; expertise in evaluation theory and methodology; a strong publication record; success in writing funded grant proposals; demonstrated competence in administering funded projects and maintaining positive client relationships; a record of working collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and research staff; and active professional involvement. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Experience in the field will be considered toward determination of Associate or Full Professorship. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
