My core research efforts have consistently focused on understanding how secondary pre-service and in-service teachers’ beliefs about science, teaching, and learning influence their conceptions and use of inquiry-based practices in their classrooms. I have been particularly interested in how professional development programs for in-service teachers and methods courses for pre-service teachers influence these teacher beliefs and practices, with the ultimate goal being the improvement of all students’ science literacy.
