The South Carolina Physical Education Assessment Program (SCPEAP) is designed to do statelevel assessment of physical education programs in South Carolina. The state professional organization, the South Carolina Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. (SCAHPERD), has been contracted by the South Carolina State Department of Education (SDE) to collect data on the extent to which students in South Carolina school programs meet the state standards. These standards are described in the South Carolina Physical Education Standards, which were approved by the Board of Education.
SCPEAP is an organizational structure of SCAHPERD. SCPEAP’s mission is to develop appropriate assessment material for the state standards and to collect and report that data for the SDE. Physical education assessment data is program data. Individual student scores will be combined to report the number of students at each school that meet the state standards.
