If you have the full Adobe Acrobat® software, you can save the application after completing it and e-mail the form as an attachment to KFRENCH@gwm.sc.edu. Usually the decision process regarding assistantships is begun in March and continues until all available assistantships are awarded.
Assistantships can only be awarded to students who are fully admitted to the doctoral program. Thus, to be considered for an assistantship, students must submit a formal application to the doctoral program though the University of South Carolina Graduate School.
All entering doctoral students who are awarded an assistantship must attend a workshop sponsored by the University of South Carolina Graduate School during the week prior to the beginning of classes in the fall semester. Usually, this workshop is held near the middle of August.
There are other university offices (Department of Athletics, Campus Recreation) that offer graduate assistantships to students who are interested in a graduate degree in physical education or other areas. Students should contact these departments directly about the procedures for applying for graduate assistantships.
