Information for specific audiences:

How to install the SSH Secure Shell for Workstations:

1. Download the SSH Secure Shell Client to your desktop

download - Click on the link to download


2. Once the file is downloaded, run the executable file SSHSecureShellClient-3.2.9

Restart the computer to complete the installation

3. Run the Secure File Transfer Client which is located on desktop or in

Start---> Programs---> SSH Secure Shell

4. Type in www.ed.sc.edu as the Host Name

Type your user name in the User Name box

Click on Connect

5. If you are logging into the Secure Shell Client for the first time, You will be asked if you want to save the new host key to the local database.

Click on Yes

6. Type your password in the Password box

7. Once you enter into the Secure Shell File Transfer Client, You can see two windows

The right side window contains your home directory which contains all the files related with your home page.

The left window takes you to your workstation, where you can edit changes to your webpages.

It is always suggested that before you make any changes to your home directory files, copy them to your desktop and then make the changes. After the changes are done, copy them back to your home directory.
