DREAMWEAVER (Adobe)

Dreamweaver is now part of the Adobe Creative Suite (CS3) programs. It can be purchased individually or as part of one of the Creative Suite (CS3) bundles of software. If you need assistance figuring out this marketing arrangement, please use the Assistance Purchasing Software area of the Instructional Support Request Form [http://www.ed.sc.edu/ois/instructionSupport.asp] or call 803-777-4475. Please note that licenses for earlier versions of Dreamweaver (originally produced by Macromedia) are apparently no longer available for purchase from any source.

PURCHASING DREAMWEAVER CS3

Individual licenses for Dreamweaver CS3 are on State contract and can be purchased through a company called Compusult, Inc.Compusult will take University purchase orders or you can purchase products from them using a University credit card. The Purchase Requisition form can be found at http://purchasing.sc.edu/pur-req2.pdf. Submit the completed form through your department. Compusult will send a software package and/or proof of purchase documentation.

For current pricing and other information about this program:

1. Go to Compusult at http://compusult.com/
2. Choose Schools and Colleges (You'll be warned that this is only for academic purchases. Click OK)
3. Then Adobe
4. Then Dreamweaver CS3

You can purchase individual new licenses. You may also purchase the media (CD-ROM) but the College of Education has a CD for Dreamweaver CS3, so you just need to purchase the license. You may also purchase documentation separately.

Please note that you need to purchase one license for each computer you will install it on, but the new license will be good until you want to upgrade to another version. (‘Maintenance licenses’ are also available, but they only work for a limited amount of time.) Licenses for faculty/staff or student personal computers can be purchased at contract pricing by going to the 'Students and Educators' area on the Compusult web page.

As soon as you get the license information from Compusult, please complete a Work Order to have the software installed on your computer. This can be done online at the Office of Information Technology’s site at http://www.ed.sc.edu/oit.

Learning to Use the Program - In the College of Education, there are a number of individual faculty/staff members who use older versions of Dreamweaver, but most users have not moved to CS3 because the older version works fine for their needs. Dreamweaver 2004 is available on a number of stations in the Training Center, but there are currently no copies of Dreamweaver CS3 installed on stations in the Training Center. The new version is significantly more expensive, so the move to Dreamweaver CS3 in the Training Center will be made slowly based on the needs of faculty/staff members, instructors, and students as they move to the latest version of Dreamweaver on their computers.

Faculty and staff members who want to learn to use Dreamweaver using the USC template for department and program web sites, should contact Teri DeBruhl. She can also assist faculty/staff members learn to make personal web sites using Dreamweaver.
Students and faculty/staff members who want to learn to use Dreamweaver may use the Individual or Group Training area of the Instructional Support Request Form [http://www.ed.sc.edu/ois/instructionSupport.asp] Not all the Instructional Support trainers know how to use this program, but a trainer will contact you to schedule a meeting with a person who can help you use the program.

A few online resources for learning to use Dreamweaver – version 2004 and CS3 – can be found on the Instructional Support Training Materials page at http://www.ed.sc.edu/ois/howtoguides/software_programs.htm
