Blackboard - Why don't I see my course listed in Blackboard? |
A. |
First, go to VIP and see if your enrollment shows in the Academics section of your VIP. If so, please note that it may take 48 hours for a course to rollover from VIP (the mainframe database) into Blackboard. If you registered late for a class, it will take time for your course to appear in Blackboard. If it has been over 48 hours since enrollment on VIP, then contact the UTS HelpDesk, 777-1800 and provide your username, USC ID, and the class code and section that is missing. If the course is not showing up in VIP, you should contact the Registrar's Office (777-5555). If you were able to access your classes on Blackboard, but they have disappeared, first check your enrollment status for this semester under the Academics section on VIP. You may have been dropped from the class by the Registrar's Office for some reason (e.g., a problem with payment). Check on your registration status and call 777-1800 to request to be reinstated in your Blackboard course. If you don't see a problem with your registration, call 777-1800 so UTS can troubleshoot the problem. |

Q. |
Blackboard - Blackboard doesn't work on my home computer, but it does work on other computers. What's the problem? |
|
|
A. |
You can use either a Mac or Windows PC. The Blackboard system requires a modern web browser, with cookies, Javascript and SSL enabled, plus Java version 1.4.1 or later. Running a browser that does not support these, or has them disabled in its settings, will result in login problems. If you can log in from the Office of Instructional Support, College of Education, but you can't log in at home, then it's definitely a configuration problem on your home computer. Blackboard also recommends the follwoing browser versions: Windows 2000, Windows XP, (also Win 98 and ME) Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.5 or 6.0, Mozilla 1.3 or later and Safari. The Mac System facors MacOS 9.2 and MacOS X. You can get further advice from USC's Computer Services Department at 777-1800. |

You can create a personal portfolio in Blackboard that is an electronic version of your educational portfolio. Many College of Education instructors in the Instructor and Teacher Education (ITE) Program require this portfolio. If the portfolio is a class requirement your instructor will request that the Blackboard "Content Collection" tab be added to your class Blackboard site. You will have your own "Content Collection" to work within. Once you have the "Content Collection" tab on your Blackboard site you can refer to the Creating a Portfolio instructions to procced with your Portfolio creation. |

Classrooms - How do I check out a key/code to access a classroom in Wardlaw? |
A. |
If you have scheduled a a technology-enhanced classroom in the Wardlaw Building, the Office of Instructional Suppor, Wardlaw Room 275, will issue you a key and an alarm code to access the room. The classroom has an alarm system installed, so you will need a key and alarm code to enter the room. The College of Education's Instructional Support office is responsible for issuing keys and codes to instructors each semester. Please contact us prior to your event to schedule a time to sign out your key and code. If you would also like to visit the room to become familiar with the technology, we will be happy to schedule a time to do that with you, based on the room availability. Also, if you would prefer, we can assign one of our employees to meet you at the room before your event and assign someone to lock the room afterward in lieu of issuing you a key and code for the room. |

Email - How can I forward email from my University E-mail account to my home or work email account? |
A. |
