MEd in Teaching with a 21-hour Emphasis in Teaching English Language Learners (ELL) College of Education and Department of Linguistics

Required core courses:

  • EDTE 710 Developing as a Professional Educator

  • EDTE 711 Ideas and Issues in Teaching

  • EDTE 712 Action Research in Teaching

  • EDTE 713 Action Research in Teaching

  • EDRM 700 Introduction to Educational Research (or similar course by advisement)

Suggested courses for ELL area of inquiry (21-hour area of inquiry is required):

* These courses are currently required by the SC State Dept of Education as part of the certification process for teachers who would like to add ESOL certification to an existing SC teaching certificate (add-on certification)

** These courses are accepted electives for South Carolina add-on ESOL certification (2 electives are required as a part of the certification process)
