Greetings From Our Department Chair
Welcome to the Department of Instruction and Teacher Education (ITE) in the USC College of Education!
Our department offers programs leading to initial licensure in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, and Secondary Education. We also offer advanced programs (M.Ed., Ed.D., and Ph.D.) in Early Childhood Education, Language & Literacy, Teaching & Learning, and Curriculum & Instruction. Our M.Ed. in Teaching and Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction are offered state-wide and beyond through distance learning formats, and the online Palmetto College initiative brings our B.A. in Elementary Education to prospective teachers studying at USC’s regional campuses.
We fulfill our mission in collaboration with many partners, including schools and districts, educational and cultural organizations, the business community, and state agencies. We engage in a wide range of outreach and professional development activities in concert with school districts throughout the state, and we offer our preservice teacher preparation programs with the cooperation of many school partners, including a professional development school (PDS) network that is a national leader in school-university partnerships.
Explore these pages to learn more about ITE, our talented faculty, and our excellent degree programs—or, better yet, come visit us in person! Our offices are in Wardlaw College, across from the historic USC Horseshoe on Sumter Street.
If you have any questions about ITE or would like to learn more about our department or our programs, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
