SALARY SAVINGS DISTRIBUTION POLICY
Effective Fiscal Year 2004
Salary savings are portions of staff
or faculty members' salaries that are paid by external
sources for work performed for these entities. This
document clarifies the distribution of salary dollars
that become available as a result of these external
commitments.
Grants & Contracts Initiated by Academic
Departments
The College will return 50% of all salary savings
generated by members of the faculty or staff to the
home department of the individual generating the
salary savings.
Grants & Contracts Initiated by Offices and
Centers
- For salary savings of faculty and staff members
fully-funded by College funds allocated to the
office or center, the College will return 50% of
all salary savings to the office or center.
- For salary reimbursement of faculty and staff
members fully or partially funded by College funds
as an entrepreneurial investment, 100% of salary
savings will be allocated to salary reimbursement
until the partial or full salary has been paid.
Thereafter, 50% of all salary savings will be allocated
to the office or center.
- For salary savings of faculty and staff members
funded by College funds allocated to another department,
office, or center other than the office or center
initiating the grant or contract, the College will
return 10% of all salary savings to the initiating
office or center and 40% of all salary savings
to the home department, office, or center of the
faculty or staff member.
Home departments are encouraged to maintain
incentives for faculty and staff members working
on grants or contracts for offices and centers.
