Dr.Gloria Swindler Boutte is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina . She is the author of Multicultural Education: Raising Consciousness , Resounding Voices: School Experiences of People From Diverse Ethnic Backgrounds, and numerous other publications related to diversity.
Dr. Boutte is a returning tenured faculty member of the University of South Carolina 's College of Education community. For more than two decades, Dr. Gloria Swindler Boutte's research, scholarship, teaching, and service have focused on families and students of color and school/community/home coalitions. Dr. Gloria Swindler Boutte is the author of Multicultural Education: Raising Consciousness and Resounding Voices: School Experiences of People From Diverse Ethnic Backgrounds. She has received over $1,000,000 in grants and has published 40+ articles on educating students of color. Her published works have been reprinted and are frequently cited. Additionally, she has presented nationally and internationally on curriculum, instruction, and diversity issues. Dr. Boutte has also taught at the South Carolina State University , the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (tenured), and at Benedict College (tenured). Dr. Boutte was named Benedict College 's recipient of the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Excellence in Teaching Award for 2006-2007. She has served on editorial boards for educational journals and is active with several professional organizations. Dr. Boutte is married to Dr. George Johnson, Jr. and has a daughter, Stephanie, a son, Jonathan, and twin grandchildren--Jaliyah and Janiyah.
