Department of Educational Studies

I received my B.A. in Psychology and English Literature from SUNY at Buffalo in 1977. In 1986, I received my M.S. in Education of the Hearing-Impaired from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Subsequently, I worked at the Florida School for the Deaf for two years, and then at St. Mary's School for the Deaf for three years. In 1996, I received my Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have been at the University of South Carolina since the Fall of 1996.

My research interests include language and communication intervention for individuals with severe disabilities, functional assessment and positive behavior support, and special education law.

I currently teach courses in applied behavior analysis, functional assessment, and single-case research methods.
