Advisement for the Master's of Education (CD-12 EDAD)
Please read all of the following information:
Assigned Advisor
Each student in our Masters of Education program is assigned to a
faculty member in the program area. You should receive a letter at the
time of admission telling you who your specific advisor is. If you do
not receive such a letter, or do not remember who your advisor is, you
can find out by contacting our administrative assistant, Mrs. Cathy
Schachner, at cschachn@gwm.sc.edu.
Advisement Assistance
Although you have a regular faculty member as your assigned advisor, and
each of us is willing to help you, due to the large number of students
we serve. If you cannot reach your advisor for any reason, either call us at 803-777-4213, or email Ms. Cathy Schachner who will have a faculty member contact you.
Program of Study
Each student needs to complete a program of study which is available
through the Office of Student Affairs in the College of Education. You
can discuss this with your advisor and he/she will advise you as to the
appropriate completion of this form based on your particular situation
(for example, some people have transfer courses from another university;
some are seeking certification only because they already hold a masters
degree). Please see our FAQ page for questions related to different
scenarios that might exist for people who already hold a graduate
degree.
