UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA

Information for specific audiences:

Dean: Les Sternberg

Dean Les Sternberg

As Dean, it is my responsibility to help facilitate the overall workings of the College. That includes helping faculty and staff accomplish their goals, and ensuring that our students are engaged in a teaching and learning environment that is second to none. I hope that you will take the time to peruse our College web pages to find out about all of the wonderful things that our faculty and staff have accomplished and how those accomplishments are intimately tied to the important and relevant experiences of our students.

Our College is dedicated to a vision that requires us to use all of our resources in a responsive, engaged, and collaborative manner. We feel that our excellence will be ultimately judged by how focused and effective we are in our involvement with our students, our alumni, schools, families, and other constituent groups. We work with P-12 students, teachers, schools, and school districts; the South Carolina Department of Education, college and universities throughout the State and Nation; the Holmes Partnership; the National Network for Educational Renewal; and a host of other organizations and entities. We fully embrace our core values of integrity, justice, stewardship, and intellectual spirit. These values are foundation linchpins that guide our work in teaching, counseling, leadership, and research.

We realize that it is our responsibility not only to lead State efforts in demonstrating best practices but to establish national standards as well. We have the quality faculty and staff to accomplish these goals, and our expectations are that our students must be an integral part of our overall commitment to excellence.

Thanks for stopping by. My door, phone, and email are always open.
