In reading fluency, Dana has improved since 1st grade from reading 9 words per minute to 33 words per minute. But she is still behind her grade peers who are reading, between 46 and 106 words correct per minute. Needs strategies for word attack and decoding to continue building on fluency and her developing skills. Dana scored in the 17th percentile which is low average compared to her peers in letter word identification.

Dana capitalized her sentence and put a period at the end of it. She had difficulty spelling monkey, stole, something, and apple. She scored in the 16th percentile in respect to sentence dictation which is low average compared to her peers. In the dictation test, she scored in the 3rd percentile which is below to low average compared to her peers and would suggest remediation in this area.

Describe how the student's disability affects involvement and progress in the general education:

Dana’s disability in the areas of reading and written expression affects her involvement and progress in general curriculum as she falls below grade peers academically in these areas. Dana will be able to meet with success in the general education curriculum with special services support and classroom accommodations. Dana is distractible during more unstructured times, therefore instruction needs to be fast-paced and tasks that will involve her physically. At this time, Dana is experiencing more problems in reading and written expression, therefore, special services is recommended for those areas. Currently she is performing just in the average range for math as compared to her grade peers. According to her teacher, she is not experiencing as much difficulty in math as in reading. Dana's teachers will continue to monitor her progress in math.

Modifications to Regular Education:

Describe specific supplementary aids to be provided and indicate the anticipated location:

Provide fast-paced lessons to keep her on task, provide additional structure or cues during transition times. Provide copies of handouts or notes to minimize the amount of copying and transfer needed during class times. Provide oral assistance during times of exams. Provide short structured instruction times to keep Dana on task and focused. Provide small group instruction when needed and use proximity control to minimize distractions.
