Author's Purpose: The author provided parents with a definition of learning disabilities and tried to increase awareness for early intervention for learning disabilities. The author included warning signs for parents at various stages

Models discussed: The article focuses on early intervention in reading and provides a chart for reading roadblocks which includes the skills, the warning signs and what a parent can do. Also included is information on auditory and visual processing problems.

Situations: The article mentions a few case studies of early intervention and the difficulties that the students encountered.

Discussion: I think the strongest part of the article is that addresses are provided for the major organizations for Learning Disabilities. The reading roadblock chart should be a broad-based guideline for parents. The hints for parents are good but hopefully the article will not create some parents to worry. I think with many of these articles a parent can look for these behaviors and create needless worry. On the other hand, the article would help to create awareness for some parents. I have also heard that "auditory processing" is the new trend in problems and getting "tested."
