    INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:


    THEMEPARK Software by BULLFROG
    One Macintosh Classic computer

    EVALUATION:

    The teacher will use the objectives of THEMEPARK and journals to grade progress.

    PROCEDURES:

    Pre-teach:

    The teacher will introduce this month's group project by placing students in groups of six and assigning a written research assignment on theme parks around the world. These reports should reveal: 1) cost and revenue of parks (initial and ongoing), 2) Amenities of the parks, and 3) Customer Satisfaction of the parks.

    Model/ Lead:

    Using projection screen and Macintosh, teacher will demonstrate how to use the THEMEPARK software. The teacher will make sure the students understand the process of building a themepark and that they understand the need to make group business decisions.

    Lecture/Independent Practice/ Discussion:

    While lecturing on New Business start-ups in our textbook, each group will take one hour per week to build their themeparks. Each group member will be a Department Chairperson which leads the other group members through their particular expertise. The departments are: Paths, Lines, Rides,Shops, Features, and Staff. During their assigned department constructions, these chairpersons will type and lead the groups decision-making. If the group is undecided about a particular decision then the Chairperson will make those decisions. Each group will be competing against the other groups based on the THEMEPARK software stock price. While one group works on the computer, the other groups will work on their project group journal (graded weekly) and their individual opinion journals(graded at the end of the project). Each group will take turns in the library using WWW to get ideas and research about building their themeparks(THEMEPARK)

    Post activities:

    Following the completion of this unit, each group will present and discuss their projects and results to the class.
