Skill 1: Follow the directions to create a document in Word practicing all the required skills.
1. Write a one-paragraph summary about any article that you have read that relates to technology and teaching. Cite the article using CORRECT APA with hanging indent.
2. Add a border to page 1, if you know how, then customize the border.
3. Add a header and footer to page 2, if you know how, then add a repeating picture to your header or footer
4. Include a table with some educational links. Resize the table to fit into the border and fit the text.
5. Change fonts and colors throughout the document for emphasis.
6. Add a watermark if you choose.

Skill 2: WIKI For this class you will create TWO separate Wiki sites.
Site #1: Create a wiki for your CEC portfolio. By the end of this course you will have all 10 pages, one for each standard, and have added at least one artifact and reflection.


Site #2: Create a wiki for your thematic topic, create your first page.Provide a rationale as to why your topic will be a hook and what skills you plan to teach. For this semester you must choose a topic that is not a specific content area, but a topic that could be a "hook" for students, to increase engagement, and could be used to teach reading, math, science or social studies. Consider ideas such as cars, rock music, pirates, sci-fi, designer clothing, Movie stars, living on your own, cooking dinner etc. Your topic & unit should be developed for your target audience (LD, EBD, MM, or Severe)

Skill 3: Lesson plan practice
Write up an intro lesson for your unit including at least one skill you plan to incorporate into the unit use the correct format. AT this point technology integration might include use of a whiteboard for presentation, links to web pages, or use of text-to-speech for student assistance. Use Chapters from Price and Nelson as a resource. View Lesson Plan and Lesson Plan with Technology. Create a word document that will be used as your template for all your lesson plan. Submit via email attachment.

Skill 4: Create web tools page Locate and evaluate at least seven "educational & interactive" web sites and create a toolbox for the sites. Try to find student interactive sites related to the topic for your unit. Provide activity based annotations. Consider at least one of the sites will be used in a complete lesson plan in your unit. Throughout the semester you will continue to add on to this list as well as create a "toolbox" for software and hardware for your unit.

Assistive Technology: An Overview: This module offers an overview of assistive technology (AT) and explores ways to expand students' access to it in the classroom.

Bookshare: Providing Accessible Materials for Students with Print Disabilities: This module presents an overview of Bookshare, a project supported by the U.S. Department of Education and OSEP, which provide books in digitized formats to individuals who have print disabilities. On hand is information about how such students can access textbooks, other instructional materials, and text-reader software at no cost, as well as how teachers can use this information in their daily instructional planning.

Skill 6: Graphic Organizer Create an instructional activity or concept map AND the activity plan related to your unit topic with a graphic organizer.

SKILL 4A DUE WIKI WORK
By tonight you should have the following finishing:
- - Create the menu pages for all the parts of your wiki
-- Write up the behavior expectations
-- Begin work on your software and hardware pages.
--Navigation buttons with links to all the pages
--Purpose (overall big ideas for the unit and skills)
--Management (classroom management using technology, and lesson planning)
--Goals (specific goals and standards)
--Tools page start this page with the general tools
-- UDL - start to consider
By now you have reviewed some tools for access that you might want to include, be sure to add those in your software toolbox. Work on adding in pictures (consider word art, spell with flickr, or wordle), consider the size of the font and the visual format.

Bring a 4-slide PowerPoint to class to work on during class time. We will work on adding pictures and non-linear features. This is not a skill but a show to have to work on in class.

Write up reflections of the two IRIS modules (proof of course attendance for Feb 23).

Skill 9: Complete Trackstar submit email with the track number. Write activity plan using your Track or describe how it aligns with classroom management. Make sure annotations are instructional/informational. Write an activity plan or lesson for integration into classroom management or example of use of one particular web site. Use the rubric for your overall unit. You can create an intro page with Web Wizard.

Skill 10: Create a book with Bookbuilder and engagement, objective and evaluation. Send link to the book as well as the name of the book.
