DEFINITIONS


 
Internet: A world-wide collection of computer networks that communicate with each other.

World Wide Web (WWW): Refers to the interfacing of these numerous computer networks. This interfacing allows information that is stored in text and multimedia format in these computer networks to be accessed.

Internet Service Provider: A company which provides access to the Internet

Browser: A computer application that is used to explore the web.

Professional Use: Covers a broad range of professional activities such as presentations and publications as well as instructional activities in the classroom instruction.

Search Tools: Computer applications that organize the information on the WWW into electronic catalogs and allow you to navigate through multiple electronic catalogs or directories of information stored on the WWW.
