All students must review one article related to assessment and students with mild disabilities. The purpose of this review is for you to consider current research or practices related to assessment. You also get practice analyzing the article for implications to research and practice.
All article reviews must follow APA guidelines for citation of the journal article. Journals that feature articles on assessment include: Exceptional Children, Journal of Learning Disabilities, RASE, Learning Disabilities Research and Practice, Journal of Behavior Disorders, ...
Review of Research Article:
Research articles have a definite design. The authors of these articles will explain in detail research with a group of students, surveys, or single subjects. These articles always include a description of the research question, participants and setting, methodology including the statistical design, results and implications. This critique does not have to be in paragraph format but can be an outline including the listed points.
A case study or qualitative research will include a description of the students, setting and the teaching methods. A case study can discuss implications of observations, interviews, and/or critiques of student work. Theoretical models discuss perspectives for organizing thoughts or previous ideas on a topic. You can include articles related to the use of technology for students with learning disabilities in this category. Include
