This site will look much better in a browser that supports web standards, but it is accessible to any browser or Internet device.
As a technology facilitator or trainer you will:
• Analyze and recommend appropriate technology resources to enable and
empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
• Analyze and recommend appropriate adaptive/assistive hardware and software
for students and teachers with special needs and assist in procurement
and implementation.
• Recommend appropriate technology recourses to affirm diversity and address
cultural and language differences.
• Conduct research to determine effective strategies for achieving equitable
access to technology resources for all students and teachers.
• Analyze methods and strategies for integrating technology resources
that support the needs of diverse learners including adaptive and assistive
technology
• Model strategies to support the diverse needs of learners including
adaptive and assistive technology and disseminate information to other
teachers and trainers.
• Model and teach legal and ethical practice of technology.
• Apply technology to empower learners of diverse backgrounds, characteristics,
and abilities.
• Identify resources that affirm diversity.
• Promote safe and healthy use of technology
• Facilitate equitable access.
To demonstrate your skills, you will complete a project that exemplifies
those standards.
You will create a web-based project that includes:
Discussion of the research & effectiveness of the technology related
to learners and learner characteristics. (research reviews)
Identification of key factors for use of the product(s) or discussion
of the topic. (tech resources review)
Application of CSS or web accessibility features
Inclusion of video - screen capture of product or technology application
(video capture project)
Application of Web design principles and properly working links
Adherence to Copyright laws & application of 508 Guidelines
For this project you will choose a topic that connects technology and diverse learners. All sub-projects in this course should be related to and incorporated into your final project. For example, for video on a particular software package, You will create a training package on the software or an informational website, include specific information on how that software provides accessibility and allows for equitable and safe access. You will review any research on the particular software or related research on the type of software (e.g., voice recognition, word prediction) or web tool (e.g., blogs, virtual worlds) and provide a summary of results. Discuss how this software or web tool by itself or incorporating it with other software can empower learners of diverse backgrounds, characteristics and abilities.
Project checklist
Introduction and Identification of key factors for use of the product(s) or discussion of the topic related to diversity, disabilities, UDL, and accessibility.
The introduction page integrates the project and presents a uniform web site that could be used for training or staff development. Use creative names for your page links.
Discussion of the research & effectiveness of the technology related to learners and learner characteristics. Your final project should include at least 5-10 references that can include research articles, web article links, books, or general news articles. At least five of the resources must be annotated.
Listing of web resources to support topic: listing of at least 15-20 web links (in addition to the research links) with annotations related to the topic and extend information. These are web reference and resources as well as links to useful Web 2.0 tools, apps and software.
Software instruction: Screen cast video
Software or hardware related to the topic is explained. Video is linked, opens properly, includes demonstration of the product(s) and explains relationship to total project.
Application of the Media
Use pictures or images to demonstrate concept include alt text as appropriate
Demonstrate appropriate use of Headers (H1, H2, H3) to keep the project.
Consider good color combinations and contrast. Do not use color alone for emphasis.
Application of Web design principles and properly working links
Develop effective web pages with appropriate links that all work.
Create links that make sense out of context and use names and not the URL address.
Make sure that all links are ”names” and no URL address is an active link.
Adherence to Copyright & application of 508 Guidelines
All images documented with source and credit in references. Copyright rules are considered. Includes alt text, notification of links opening new page, links for external plug-ins, writing style to meet range of consumers.
