Adding on certification in areas other than your initial area is
governed entirely by the SC Department of Education. USC is accredited
for and recommends certification only at the initial level (other than
in the areas of Counselor Education, Education Administration, Library
Media, and Speech Pathology). Once you earn your initial
certification, you can apply to add on different levels and/or
subjects. USC has no program that allows for certifying simultaneously
in two different areas. You can get general information about add-on
certification from the SC Division of Teacher Quality from their web

requirements be sure to review pages 28-70 of the SC Teacher
Certification Manual which is available at
