Welcome to the Higher Education and Student Affairs Program website. The HESA Program at the University of South Carolina is part of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policies in the College of Education. The program offers two degree programs, a masters degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs and a doctorate in Educational Administration with an Emphasis in Higher Education. Our programs are designed prepare leaders to serve colleges and universities at various levels. Through our service, the HESA Program assists individuals as well as public and private agencies and institutions in improving professional practice and performance within higher education. Through our scholarship, the HESA faculty extend the limits of knowledge in the field of Higher Education and Student Affairs and refine existing theory, practice, and policy.

Higher Education Faculty Welcomes Dr. Mary Holloway, Instructor for EDHE 732, The American College Student

Dr. Mary H. Holloway serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Development Services at Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina. Mary has held several student affairs positions with progressive levels of responsibilities since 1978. She earned an Associate in Science in Human Services from Piedmont Technical College; a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Lander University; a Master's of Education in Student Personnel Services from Clemson University; and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina.
Sri Sitharaman, a Ph.D. Student in Higher Education, Receives $20,000 Dissertation Fellowship

Sri Sitharaman has received a $20,000 dissertation fellowship from the Association for Institutional Research in Tallahassee, Florida. His proposal, "Analysis of Faculty Salaries at Historically Black Colleges and Universitites" was selected for funding through the Association for Institutional Research-National Center for Education Statistics-National Science Foundation grant program, "Improving Institutional Research in Postsecondary Education Institutions." This fellowship of $20,000 is for the period June l, 2008, through May 31, 2009.
